SERIES: KIKO'S DEFORMED VISION

In the series on the Neocatechumenal Way (NCW)’s theology, we broke down Kiko Arguello’s deformed vision of what Roman Catholicism is: a watered down version of Christianity that uses a hierarchy with a head subject to a charismatic prophet, rather similar to the notion of the Old Testament prophets, of which Kiko seems to see himself as the successor.

In addition, there are a few shorter posts to support and give greater clarity to what’s being discussed.

These are the links in annotated format:

Part One: Kiko’s Church: the NCW vision of Church—its lens--is one grounded in the principle that the Incarnation is solely about the community of believers and represents a profound rejection of the sacrificial nation of the Incarnation and the Mass.

Part Two: The Lens in Action: with the NCW lens, the last 1700 of the Church are nothing but scaffolding to build the post-Vatican 2 structure of the Church. All Tradition is meaningless and bound to time precisely because any truth in it serve what Kiko’s model of church should be

Part Three: The Secret of the Gospel: because believers see themselves as part of the “real Church” unlike traditional (read: non-NCW) Catholics, they feel a great superiority in a series of humiliating initiations and the knowing a sacred secret of the inner meaning of the Gospel, which betrays a very real gnosticism with Kiko’s theology, and is therefore a profound evil in the Church.

Part Four: Pride Disguised: this secret and the superiority flowing from it have the very real sinful consequences for members, particularly in the death justice, as well as the a ghastly pride that flows into all their conversations and evangelization

Part Five: The Francis Problem: the NCW can only thrive if it has protectors, and Kiko has relied on photo-ops and isolated quoted from St John Paul 2 and Benedict 16; but the great cheerleader for the NCW is Pope Francis, whose shoot-from-the-hip style of theologizing is readily quoted to support their bad theology and ministry.

Part Six: A Priest-less Church: the protection or destruction of the NCW ultimately depends on the bishops who allow them to operate in their dioceses, but because of the perverse theology and administration of the majority of Western bishops, Kiko is allowed not only to buy protection but put forth this ultimate goal of a priestless church with him (or his memory) as the guiding principle.
